Meet Eleanor

Eleanor Lou came into the world on November 16th, 2011. We might add that she came into the world screaming. Her voice is still just as strong. Since her arrival, Ellie has brought an immense amount of joy into our lives. She is filled with wonder, hunger, and laughter.

Ellie was born blind. Her diagnosis is LCA, (Leber Congenital Amaurosis). You can familiarize yourself with Leber’s HERE. We’ve also explained things more in-depth in our F.A.Q. section. All that being said, we continue to learn and discover the extents and limitations of her vision, and we are frequently amazed about what she CAN see, do, and accomplish in spite of her dis/ability.

Ellie’s personality is dynamic. She is a talker, a singer, and our home is frequently filled with her sporadic laughter. She loves reading books, listening to  or playing music, touching tree trunks and plants, making jokes, and trying to out-talk whoever is around. She is  happy, sweet, smart, and curious. She responds to everything. No sound, draft, or vibration goes unnoticed – the world is her playground.

Welcome to her world.

My 4 year old daughter has LCA, CEP290 also. I share your insights. It all sounds so familiar. Eleanor sounds SO much like our Layla, with a superb and dynamic personality! Thanks for your eloquent words!
